Welcome to the home of the Southern California Asterisk Users Group. We meet every third thursday of each month at the Heritage Park Library in Irvine, Ca. The library is located on the north-west corner of Yale and Walnut. The meeting is from 6pm - 9pm and everyone is welcome to attend. Watch the site for information on special events and scheduled speakers each month. |

Thursday June 19 2008 We hope you can attend the next meeting. Below are topics we hope to cover, dates, and location. See you there. -SoCalAUG Admin-
* LAB: Time for more hands-on labs. This is what we have been waitng for.
* YOU SUPPLY: Bring your laptop, a softphone or hardphone, some Ethernet cable, and an extension cord with power strip so you can join in.
* WE SUPPLY: We'll have two trixbox servers, two IP phones, plenty of switch ports, wireless router, and a couple other goodies to make asterisk work.
* DOWNLOAD: You'll receive instructions tonight on how to download files to prepare. You'll get a PowerPoint, lab instructions, questions to answer, lab configuration and topology, and more.
* PLAN: We will break into groups and continue developing our virtual company. We recently had a couple presentations on designing DIal Plans so let's see how well we can create dial plans on for our multi-site company. We'll include cross-trunk on-net dialing, off-net dialing to ITSP trunks, auto-attendant IVR, voicemail, and other considerations. We'll also implement special calling features like CID, forwarding, follow-me, conferencing, etc. This should be enough material to keep us having fun for a couple meetings or more.
* Future Meeting Planning: Let's create some homework so we can bring some great input to examine at the next meeting. We'll discuss how to proceed with our virtual company to explore trixbox.

Thursday March 27, 2008: Guest Speaker - Yate (Yet Another Telephone Engine) About our speaker: Diana Cionoiu is the co founder and President of Yate (Yet Another Telephone Engine). Diana is here from Romania speaking at the VON show in San Jose on Open Source Platforms. She is also meeting with several of Yates clients and distributors in North America. Topic - Yate: Yate is a next-generation telephony engine currently focused on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and PSTN. Its power lies in its ability to be easily extended. Voice, Video, Data and instant messaging can all be unified under Yates flexible routing engine, maximizing communications efficiency and minimizing Infrastructure costs for businesses. |
