Welcome to the home of the Southern California Asterisk Users Group. We meet every third thursday of each month at the Heritage Park Library in Irvine, Ca. The library is located on the north-west corner of Yale and Walnut. The meeting is from 6pm - 9pm and everyone is welcome to attend. PRESENTATION: VoIP Privacy and Security
How private and secure is your network? How about your VoIP? There are a number of considerations that apply to both, and some that are specific to VoIP. We will begin to explore various considerations and the related tools. In order to verify your networks potential vulnerability, it is necessary to simulate threats by attackers using hacker tools. Then, it becomes a challenge to mitigate these threats with proper practices and tools. We will explore this world of trickery and the tools that can demonstrate how to analyze your network's vulnerability. This topic will involve both discussions and hands-on labs, as well as homework, over several meetings (security is a vast and complete subject in itself and we can stay on this topic as long as we want to).

- Vulnerabilities, exploits, concerns - you would be surprised how many concerns we have
- Mitigating risks - simple rules to advanced techniques
- Tips-n-Tricks - we found some, you provide some, we all gain
- Tools - especially free tools
WHAT TO BRING
- We bring: router, switches
- You bring: laptop, LAN/CAT5 cables, power strips and extensions
- This requires careful cooperation and courteous participation - no deviant attacking/hacking in these labs!
- Bring a thumb drive to take home some utilities

Presentation 3: Kickoff VoIP Security (~20-30 minutes)
Are you ready to launch a new VoIP topic? Let's take an introductory look at VoIP security and some of the tools we will use in our labs. This topic is deep enough to use for several presentations and labs. If you are knowledgeable about network and VoIP security, please be sure to respond and let me know.
