TOPIC: OS virtualization (VMware and VirtualBox) and a new IP PBX (Elastix)
* VM - Virtual Machine (system or process VM)  
* Host OS  
* Guest OS  
* I/O interception

* Use supplied links and Google to gain an understanding of VM software and installation  
* If desired, bring a PC ready to install VM software  
* Download manuals, FAQ, etc.  
* We will have Flash Thumb Drives with the software ready for you to load on your PC: VirtualBox (VM) and Elastix ( IP PBX)


LAB:  Configure your laptop with VirtualBox and Elastix.
* YOU SUPPLY:  Bring your laptop, a configured softphone or hardphone, some Ethernet cable (long), and an extension cord (long) with power strip so you can join in. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN LAN & POWER CABLES
* WE SUPPLY:  We will have thumb drives with the required applications for you to copy, then install.  
* PLAN:    We will discuss, watch a demo, then we can try on our own laptops
* Future Meeting Planning: Let's create some homework so we can bring some great input to examine at the next meeting.  We'll discuss how to proceed with our virtual company to explore trixbox.  
* Open discussion: Networking and social time; CES is coming, other events; should we have a December meeting, holiday dinner, or other; VoIP emergency services; FCC white space approval

Kevin Asano from Edgewater Networks in San Jose, CA is doing a presentation, for our users group on Oct.16.

Customizing Freepbx and Asterisk Dial Plans

Installing Freepbx and getting a few extension configured is fine for some deployments, but when you need more controlled access to users, knowing how to properly set up a secure and flexible dial plan is key. This presentation will cover securing feature access, trunk access restrictions, least cost routing, and setting up some custom features such as SIP/IAX2 URI dialing.
